Description

I know I basically swore off fanart a long time ago, but...eh. Honestly I don't care that much anymore. This is still staying in scraps, though.

Anyway, I'm YEARS late on this, but I borrowed Tales Of The Abyss from a friend just to give myself something to do and to satiate the game craving I knew I was going to have leftover after I beat Skyward Sword (which was awesome, by the way). The only other Tales game I ever played was Symphonia, which will forever be among my all time favorites, and honestly I didn't expect Abyss to compare, for some reason. But dammit, it was wonderful and I wish I'd gotten my hands on it ages ago when it came out (not that I even had a PS2 at the time, but still). Apparently it's getting a 3DS release or something though, so does that make it relevant again? :P

But yeah. I was just the right combination of bored and inspired enough to just do a bunch of ToA-doodles. Most of these were in one night. I haven't sketched in Photoshop that much in forever. Forgot how fun it was. It's nice to do something other than comic pages sometimes.

Anyway, without further ado, unnecessary explanations:
1.) I honestly didn't think I was going to like Jade at first, but by the end of the game he was one of my favorite characters for sure. I can't tell you how many times I wound up lying on the floor laughing and yelling "You are such an ass! Why is this so entertaining?!" at my TV.
2.) Bit of a LukeTear thing that I thought could/should have happened at numerous points throughout the game. Seriously, there were tons of opportunities.
3.) Happy Luke, because he was really pretty adorable when he wasn't being a snotty brat or an emo kid, and also, confused Luke is confused because he's not so bright and everyone keeps him out of the loop.
4.) Hey look, it's Guy! Hi Guy! <---That was basically my reaction every time he appeared on screen. I dunno he was just a smile-worthy character. And the gynophobia thing was hysterical (even after the reasons behind it were explained. Felt worse for laughing, but it was still funny).
5.) Pouty Asch, because let's face it, he was just as stubborn and immature as Luke. Looks like he just lost an argument or something. I wanted so much to not like Asch because he was such a jerk most of the time (I saw the term "self-centered assmonkey" used online somewhere and found it highly appropriate), but dammit I have never cried over a character death like that |P.
6.) Also, Emo Asch and I'mma Kill You Asch.
7.) Luke (and Mieu) directly post-Akzeriuth. One of the most emotionally hard-hitting scenes I've ever encountered in a game. I saw some people complaining that it was handled poorly, but I dunno, personally I thought it was pretty damn well done and everyone's reactions were, well, realistic considering the situation. It was intended to make you feel bad and that's what it did :P And it's not terribly often that you get to see your protagonist break down and cry.
8.) Natalia because, despite being a tad annoying at first, I did grow to like her quite a bit eventually.
9.) Oh, and these two. Their whole relationship (or lack thereof) was almost painful to watch. Also, trying to convince him not to run off and try to handle things by himself never did work, unfortunately.
10.) Scribbly Tear is scribbly and likely inaccurate due to being drawn from memory. I liked Tear a lot though, for some reason. Probably because she was stubborn and strict and had a (not so) secret love for cute things like me.

There were some other doodles I wanted to do, but the motivation's left me at this point. I figure this is plenty.

Shizzy, when I give this game back you need to play it instead of letting it rot on your shelf with all the others :P
