See, I somehow accidently got myself into a manga called Air Gear recently. It's a bit different than most of the series' I'm into, but somehow i caught my attention. Plowed through the scalations in a couple days, which is usually a sign that I've found a new addiction (same thing happened with Naruto, D. Gray-man, FMA, etc...)
Sooo when that happens it usually spawns fanart. As is the case here.
So this is Agito (left) and Akito (right). Who, I admit, is/are everyone's favorite character(s). I'm really not sure whether to refer to them as singular or plural. Because see, Akito/Agito is technically one person, he's just got this split personality. He switches between the two by moving the eyepatch. It's kinda weird, but cool at the same time. Personally I pretty much consider them two different characters because there's such a contrast between the two. But that's enough from me, go read the manga yourself if you wanna know more. (They don't really have the wings by the way; it's just symbolism.)
Anyway, this also ended up CG practice. I tried a totally different style than usual, with both lineart and coloring. I wasn't even originally expecting to finish this, but once I started coloring...well, I was having fun. Still a lot of mistakes, some of which I didn't notice until I really couldn't fix. Whoops.
Oh, and I had way too much fun with the background/foreground. Hahaha I love Photoshop. And I'm outta time to rant, so bye-bye.
Oh, DC'll be back tomorrow. Sorry, it just wasn't going well this week so I ended up putting it aside for a few days.
Ahahaha! That same thing happened to me a few days ago! XD And yeah, I don't know why I'm so into it, (never been into sports anime) but I'm obsessed. o_o I blame those two.
Akito and Agito kick so much ass. Probably the only I watched/read Air Gear. XD
Lovely drawing by the way! I love the background and the wings are a nice touch too.
Also, (randomly) nice folds. I hate folds. Hate them to death!
Oh shoot, you got into Air Gear as well? That series is wild. The story isn't the most original but its the art that really gets me. Oh Great! knows how to draw fight scenes like no other. You can literally feel the impact of each mega hit from the manga pages.
Yeah, I think the art is what really got me into it too. Not just the fights, but all the action scenes are like, woah. You can tell exactly how the characters are moving, almost like it was animated. Haha, I'm trying to learn something from it as well.
Oops, I forgot to comment on the actual picture itself.
The main word that strikes me when looking at this is contrast. Everything here clashes with one another as that's the theme of this drawing, I guess. The clothes, poses, the wings, background and facial expressions are all polar opposites of each other which is a great representation of this individual's split personality.
One last thing, there's an anime to Air Gear but its inferior to the manga. Many of the manga's most memorable scenes are either removed or altered in the anime not to mention that the battles lack that emtional intensity that we have grown used to.
Glad to see another CL fan here on DA who has similar taste in anime that I do.
Yup, contrast is what I was going for. The personalities are total opposites, so I went with that theme. (Think I got carried away with the background though XD)
Yeah, I've watched most of the anime, and I have to agree that is doesn't compare to the manga at all. I guess that they tried to cram as much as they could into that one season so they left a lot of little things that made the series cool out . (The Behemoth arc especially could've been so much better than it was. I was rather disappointed with those fights in the anime.)
And yeah, it's cool to see another person around that's into stuff like CL and Air Gear at the same time.
Heh, well I'm watching the anime still, but I just happened to find the manga first. It seems the anime ends in a stupid place anyway .
Anyhow, glad you like it. ^_^

Well, keep up the great work!
And thanks! ^^ Glad you like it.
